Human narrative--scraps to piece into the Patchwork Quilts of History

First hand narratives offer priceless insights into history. They might or might not repeat the familiar stories, but they tell of experiences remembered and shared by real people who were really, truly THERE at THAT time. Facets of history. Invaluable. Tales sometimes at odds with another's remembrance. Isn't that the way of human truth--agreement, disagreement, compromise, holding something back, spilling it all out, telling a piece, keeping the most of the whole to oneself?
These are the scraps of history; we are lucky to have these tiny bits to hold on to. We can stitch them into heirloom coverlets to be handed down, from generation to generation, reminding us of our histories.

One or two good narratives.

Another attempt to glean info from folks who were to young to know too much and too old and have forgotten much. There was one interesting take from a Man who studied medicine and received his MD degree. Why he only practiced his trade for a few years was not forth coming. But it does show how far anyone can get with the right education!
